UK greengrocer Reynolds has joined the Federation of Wholesale Distributors (FWD) to “stand united alongside” other food and drink wholesalers.
Reynolds, which has nine regional depots including its national distribution centre in Hertfordshire, has grown significantly in recent years and added meat, fish and specialist subsidiaries to its range of products.
Managing director Tony Reynolds said: “Like the majority of our customers and many members of FWD, we have been significantly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and we were very keen to be able to offer help and support to the industry with how we all emerge from this situation brighter and stronger.
“We are very keen to join the FWD and stand united alongside fellow members in its efforts to make the return to a ‘new normal’ as smooth as possible for the sector.”
FWD chief executive James Bielby added: “We’re delighted to welcome Reynolds into the FWD family. Gaining a national distributor of this size raises the volume of the sector’s voice in our representative work with government and gives us an almost complete consensus of support for the work we are all doing to move wholesale distribution into a new era. It is also a recognition of the critical role FWD plays in representing the sector to government, especially during the Covid-19 crisis."
