Refurbishment of Dragonfly budget hotels announced

The Dragonfly brand of four budget properties, owned by Surya Hotels, is to undergo a £1m overhaul.

Dragonfly was acquired in January 2016 for £10m from RBS, increasing Surya Hotels’ portfolio to 11. The group’s existing hotels are operated as independent “niche” hotels, and include the George in Colchester, which is to be part of a £10m revamp.

Suki Dulai, managing director of Surya Hotels, said: "The Dragonfly rooms were looking tired in places, so we are pleased to bring them back up to modern standards. We are dedicated to investing and improving all our hotels, ensuring we continue to make our hotels as welcoming, stylish and comfortable as possible for our guests. "

Surya Hotels is part of the £100m-turnover Flying Trade Group, run by brothers Harry and Suki Dulai. Its sister subsidiary is Surya Foods.
