Ramside Hall hotel applies to build treehouse accommodation

Ramside Hall hotel near Carrville in Durham has applied to develop a multi-million pound set of six luxury treehouses in its grounds.

The four-AA-silver-star, 128-bedroom hotel has submitted a planning application to create the accommodation behind one of its golf courses.

The two-bedroom treehouses will each have a private living room and bathroom with a free-standing copper bath. They will be built on stilts, and look out over the 18th fairway and green of the Prince Bishops' golf course. If permission is granted, the development is expected to open in summer 2018.

The hotel is part of Ramside Estates, a third-generation family business owned by John Adamson, which also owns the four-AA-star, 51-bedroom Hardwick Hall hotel near Sedgefield, and the 19-bedroom Bowburn Hall hotel, both in Durham.

Adamson said: "It's a unique, luxury development which will enhance the already strong offering we have at Ramside for business and leisure guests. We have been very careful about a design which is sympathetic to the surroundings and which will be built using renewable materials wherever possible."
