Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park restaurant pavilion plans approved

Planning permission has been approved for a new 10,000 sq ft pavilion in east London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park with space for two restaurants and a café.

The multi-storey "statement building" was designed by ACME for private company Lendlease and government owned LCR as part of the £2.4bn International Quarter London (IQL) venture.

Plans to develop IQL are expected to deliver four million sq ft of office space, homes and community facilities to the Stratford area.

Lendlease's Jonathan Emery, managing director for property in Europe, said: "IQL is a world class business destination, sitting in the heart of east London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and with great transport links.

"The pavilion represents a significant investment in placemaking and amenity, which underpins our ambition to build a new neighbourhood here."

The development was approved by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), who earlier this month called for expressions of interest from operators for two new catering contracts in the park.

David Joy, chief executive of LCR, added: "We are pleased to have secured another important planning consent for IQL.

"The pavilion will provide a new public space for the community within an impressive, high quality setting.

"An exciting addition to the development, the pavilion will join the many other attractions on offer to residents, workers and visitors in this thriving neighbourhood."
