Meliá Hotels International has appointed Richard Mansell to head up its flagship Innside by Meliá in Manchester.
Mansell joins the 208-bedroom property from Principal Hotels, where he was general manager of the first Principal-branded hotel, the 155-bedroom, four-AA-star Principal York, for the last two years.
He previously worked for the Capella Hotel Group including as director of operations and as opening general manager of its Raithwaite Estate in Whitby, North Yorkshire. He also spent more than 10 years overseas including heading up rooms and food and beverage operations at the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch Ski Resort in Colorado, USA, before returning to the UK in 2011.
Mansell said: "I'm incredibly excited to be joining an existing team and hotel which has a proven track record of delivering exceptional stays for guests. The team, most of whom have been with the hotel since opening in May 2015 have been very welcoming and just as I am, are very keen to push the hotel to the next level.
"We have some exciting plans for this award-winning property in the coming months."
Innside is the Spanish hotel group's contemporary city centre brand. Manchester is the brand's only UK hotel, which opened in 2015. Further properties are in the pipeline for Birmingham, Newcastle, Liverpool and Glasgow.
As well as the Innside Manchester, Meliá also currently operates two other hotels in the UK: the 581-bedroom Meliá White House in Regent's Park, London, and the 157-bedroom ME London, on Aldwych.
