Paul boosts like-for-likes through online office sales

Bakery and cafe bran Paul has seen like for like sales rise 3.4%, with online sales up 44% driven by a new mobile payment app.

Turnover for the year to 31 December 2018 was £38m, up 7.4% on 2017.
During the period the brand developed its delivery range, working with City Pantry to offer a selection of dishes to office-based custom.

Paul also introduced Paul Express in St Pancras Station in 2018, a new concept focusing on quick service. The second Paul Express opened this year on London's Tottenham Court Road.

The business added that trading in the year to date was up 9.5% on a like-for-like basis.

Finance director Susanne Sauerland said: "This is a solid performance by Paul in the light of continued uncertainty within the sector. Our results in the second half of 2018 and the first half of 2019 are showing significant increases in like-for-like turnover, primarily due to new product development, improved technology, online sales and, of course, the commitment, passion and capabilities of our team."
