Palé Hall has been awarded a five-star rating from Visit Wales, the first time the grading body has bestowed its highest rating on a property in 10 years.
It is also the first time Visit Wales has passed a hotel with a 98% pass mark and is one of only three establishments in Wales to enjoy five-star status alongside St David's Hotel & Spa in Cardiff and the Celtic Manor in Gwynedd.
The 18-bedroom hotel opened in September last year in Bala, Gwynedd, on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, and was awarded a five-star rating from the AA earlier this year, the only five-AA-star property in north Wales.
Owned by Alan and Angela Harper, the hotel is also the first Welsh member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Chef Michael Caines is a consultant on the hotel's food and beverage offering, overseen by head chef Gareth Stevenson.
General manager Pim Wolfs said: "We are thrilled to have received this five star rating from Visit Wales. The five star rating is a huge accomplishment and it is wonderful that Visit Wales has given us this recognition."
