Marnix Teeken has been appointed opening general manager of the new flagship £26m London Hampton by Hilton hotel on Ealing's Park Royal.
Scheduled to open in the spring of 2020, the 162-bedroom hotel being developed being a listed Art Deco facade will be Starboard Hotels' first London property and its first franchise with Hilton.
Starboard founder and managing director Paul Callingham (pictured, right) said the appointment marked "a significant step in the development of the hotel".
He described Teeken (pictured, left) as "a highly experienced hospitality professional" and "a valued member of the Starboard general management team", adding that the hotel reflects the group's "ambitious" growth plans.
Native Hollander Teeken has worked as a general manager for Starboard for the past two years, overseeing its Ibis London Gatwick and Best Western Epping Forest hotels. He previously held general manager roles at the Sir Christopher Wren hotel in Windsor, the Mercure London Staines-upon-Thames and Mercure Shakespeare Stratford-upon-Avon.
He added: "I am thrilled to be part of the pre-opening team of Starboard Hotels' first Hampton by Hilton and I look forward to leading a new team in what promises to be a very busy hotel in one of London's primary areas."
The site was purchased from Atlas Holdings and was originally part of the Atlas Hotels portfolio. Starboard owns 20 properties in the UK including the Carlton Hotel Blackpool, Windermere Manor in Cumbria, the Cliffden hotel in Teignmouth, Devon, and Ibis hotels in Birmingham Bordersley, Leicester City, Plymouth and Sheffield.
