Chef Mark Jarvis is relaunching Liv Belgravia restaurant in London as 1771 next week, having been appointed chef-director of the site last year.
The renamed 1771, opening on 14 October, will take its name from the year the area was established. Still operating as a contemporary British concept, the 50-cover restaurant will serve a tasting menu beginning with plates such as cured trout and potato soufflé in a parsley emulsion, and oak-grilled langoustine in a shell emulsion served with white soy.
To follow will be dishes including poached halibut with mustard greens and charcoal, and cheese and onion malt loaf. To end will be a caramelised sourdough parfait as well as apple cake served with parsley root ice-cream.
Jarvis has also designed a sharing menu, including scallops barbecued in their shell served with seaweed butter, whole truffle-roasted chicken and wood-fired jacket potato with cultured cream and caviar. The wine list will focus on white and red wines from Burgundy.
He said: “It has been a really tough year for our industry so we are thrilled to be opening this restaurant, especially in West London which is an area I’ve always loved. We can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been working on and to try out these fantastic new flavours.”
Jarvis, who won the Newcomer Award at the 2017 Cateys for his flagship restaurant Anglo in Farringdon, of which he is chef-owner, will continue to oversee Anglo, and is also executive chef of the Spotted Dog pub in St Albans.
