Mark Jarvis appointed chef-director of Liv Belgravia

Mark Jarvis has been appointed chef director of Liv Belgravia in London ahead of its reopening on 7 September.

Having opened last year with a menu designed by chef Damien Monley, the new menu will take influences from Jarvis’ modern British cooking style. Dishes will include burrata gazpacho, crab ailio and Australian truffle risotto for starters; and lamb and anchovy butter and braised summer squash, wild turbot with potato and fennel gratin, and gratinated aubergine with caponata and pine nuts for mains.

Desserts will feature olive oil soft serve with honeycomb and rosemary wafer, chocolate crémeux with chocolate crumb and toasted hazelnut ice-cream, and passion fruit panna cotta.

Jarvis, who won the Newcomer Award at the 2017 Cateys for his flagship restaurant Anglo in Farringdon, of which he is chef-owner, will continue to oversee Anglo, the Gunmakers pub in Marylebone and his Anglo outpost at Trade club in Soho.

Joe Laker, who has worked with Jarvis at Anglo and was previously sous chef at St Leonards restaurant in Shoreditch, has been appointed head chef. He replaces former head chef Alfie Dias, while Jarvis replaces former executive chef Damien Monley, but in the newly created role of chef-director.

Jarvis said: “I’m thrilled to be taking over as chef-director at Liv. It’s not unfamiliar news that the hospitality industry has been hit the hardest during this pandemic, so I’m particularly excited to reopen a popular restaurant and introduce some new dishes to its neighbourhood. I’m hopeful to see customers who have missed having their local all-dining restaurant on their doorstep as well as food connoisseurs looking to try something new this autumn.”
