Manchester's Etrop Grange follows the Samlesbury into administration

Manchester's Etrop Grange hotel has followed its sister hotel the Best Western Samlesbury in Preston into administration.

The Etrop Grange, which has 64 bedrooms and is located opposite Manchester Airport, continues to trade and is now up for sale.

The company behind the hotel, ‘Manchester Terminal 2 Hotel', called in administrators Duff & Phelps on 25 April.

Duff & Phelps is also trying to find a buyer for the 86-bedroom Best Western Plus Samlesbury, after it fell into administration earlier this month.

Real estate firm GVA is marketing the hotel as a going concern for offers in the region of £2.5m.

Matt Ingram, joint administrator, Duff & Phelps said: "Etrop Grange is one of the best known hotels in the North West with a long, established reputation.

"More broadly there is a lot of confidence in the UK hotel sector, which performed well in 2017 and mirrored property investment in general.

"Driven by a weakened Sterling, the growth in ‘staycations’ and improved infrastructure developments â€" not least in and around Manchester Airport â€" we believe that the future remains bright for Etrop Grange."

Squire Hotels also operates the 84-bedroom Hydro hotel in Windermere in the Lake District. It is not affected by the administrations and continues to trade as normal.
