Hotel marketing consortium Magnuson Hotels is offering five UK properties free membership for one year.
The US-based hotel brand aimed at independently owned hotels has launched a competition that will provide the winning hotels with access to the group's range of marketing and revenue management tools without paying its usual 5% membership fee.
Thomas Magnuson, chief executive of Magnuson Hotels, said that many independent hotel owners in the UK would benefit from the support of a brand as they are "facing some of the biggest challenges in generations".
He continued: "Airbnb now counts for 22% of total UK room supply and corporate giants like Travelodge and Premier Inn represent an additional 20%. In 2018, major brands will achieve a combined 51% market share in the UK."
Magnuson Hotels currently has more than 1,000 properties in six countries, including 50 hotels in the UK, which it aims to increase to around 200 in the next three years.
The company has changed its original business model from the times it launched in the UK in 2010, when members paid a 15% commission for each booking delivered by Magnuson Hotels rather than brand-based fees. This was changed to a flat fee model of 5% of gross room revenue in 2014.
