Italian steak brand Macellaio RC, founded by Roberto Costa, has acquired a historic Bloomsbury location for its sixth restaurant.
The Story Street site was once the Duke of Bedford's filling station and spans 1,447 sq ft with an additional forecourt featuring a distinctive mural.
Roberto Costa (pictured), founder and owner of Macellaio RC, said: "I fell in love with this venue and the Bloomsbury area at first sight. For me it's an honour to be able to raise the curtain of our theatre in such a historical venue. As Italian artisans, we love the history behind this incredible building, one of the biggest petrol station in the 1920s, and we want to show it respect so it gives us the right motivation to do our very best."
The restaurant will once again showcase Macellaio RC's Fassona steak, sourced from the mountain valleys north of Genoa.
The group's last opening, Ardiciocca, marked a departure for the brand offering gluten-, dairy- and sugar-free Mediterranean food with a focus on fermentation.
