Lita and Avery among October Michelin Guide additions

They join Adam Handling’s the Tartan Fox in Cornwall and David Carter’s Agora in London, which are also listed in the guide.

Chef Luke Ahearne’s Lita in London and Rodney Wages’ Avery in Edinburgh are among 16 new restaurants that have been added to the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland’s selection this month.

At Lita (pictured), the ex-Corrigan’s head chef offers produce-centric Mediterranean cuisine, which won the bistro glowing reviews from critics when it opened in March this year. The Michelin Guide praised the restaurant for emanating “the best kind of buzz – that of contented diners having a thoroughly good time”.

Meanwhile, American chef Rodney Wages was recognised for his “creative, finely crafted dishes that fuse global influences with superb Scottish ingredients” at his first UK outpost, Avery. He launched the restaurant in Edinburgh in May after “falling in love” with the city as a reincarnation of the original Michelin-starred Avery that he opened in San Francisco in 2018.

Chef Gary Townsend’s Elements in Glasgow, which showcases the best of Scottish produce with a refined touch, was also added to the Guide, as was the Hero in London’s Maida Vale, the third pub from the team behind the Pelican in London’s Notting Hill.

This month’s selection was evenly spread across the UK and Ireland, with representation all the way down from Cornwall up into the Scottish Highlands.

Michelin updates its recommendations each month based on its inspectors’ travels, with any additions highlighted by a ‘New’ symbol.

It does not confirm if the restaurants will receive a star, Bib Gourmand or any other awards until the next formal Michelin Guide ceremony, which will take place in Glasgow on 10 February 2025.
