Levi Roots closes Caribbean Smokehouse in Westfield Stratford City

Levi Roots, the creator of Reggae Reggae Sauce, has announced the closure of his restaurant Levi Roots' Caribbean Smokehouse in Westfield Stratford City shopping centre.

Roots, who won £50,000 investment from Dragons' Den‘s Peter Jones and Richard Farleigh in 2010, had opened the London restaurant in December 2015.

Announcing its closure he tweeted: "So sorry! Unfortunately I have to announce my restaurant @levismokehouse is closing today! most dreadful thing is letting down my brilliant team, tried my utter most to avoid this but the party is over and all good things come to and end. So sorry to the customers too."

Roots has previously opened the Papine Jerk Centre in Battersea in 2007, serving Jamaican cuisine to the nearby Thames Christian College. It closed in 2013.
