Latest openings: Hotel Brooklyn, Tamarind Tiger and more

Hotel Brooklyn

 

Hotel Brooklyn has opened on Manchester’s Portland Street, Bespoke Hotels’ sister property to the city’s Hotel Gotham, inspired by New York in 1920-1940.

 

Food and beverage outlets include Runyon’s bar and restaurant, named after American writer Damon Runyon, famous for his depictions of Brooklyn characters, and with a menu showcasing European and American influences.

 

Dishes include crab flake à la Newburg, Billy’s bacon fried rice, ‘Oscar’s’ BLT wedge and hash browns. The hotel also has the Salvation events bar on the top floor and the Brooklyn Heights banqueting and events space.

 

Accessible and stylish design is also a priority for the property, with 18 accessible bedrooms overseen by accessible design company Motionspot.

Tamarind Tiger

 

Copper Chimney operator Charcoal Concepts has entered the grab-and-go market with Tamarind Tiger on London’s Baker Street. The menu offers breakfast, customisable meal options, and a chai bar. A donation is made to Action Against Hunger for every Tiger Tiffin Box sold.

The Botanist Cardiff

 

The 20th Botanist bar has opened in Cardiff, decorated like a botanical garden with plant-adorned walls and an exclusive outdoor terrace. The venue serves cocktails, mocktails, wines, ales and beers, as well as a selection of gins.

Former Waldorf hotel head mixologist Carl Brown and the Pepper Collective have launched a cocktail bar in London’s Brick Lane. The ‘modern apothecary’ menu offers zero-waste cocktails, while the ‘alternative speakeasy’ menu offers non-alcoholic drinks.

Pizza brand Rudy’s is opening its Leeds branch this week, joining sites in Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool. Rudy’s pizzas are made following Neapolitan traditions.

Village Hotel Club has opened its 31st site, in Basingstoke. The 153-bedroom hotel offers all-day dining at its Village Pub and Grill, a gym with more than 100 group classes a week, a swimming pool and a sauna. The hotel also offers a co-working space called VWorks, five meeting rooms and an on-site Starbucks.
