The Hydro hotel in Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria, is relaunching in July as the Ro following a multimillion-pound refurbishment.
The property's room count has been increased from 78 to 87 and when it reopens will have eight different room categories, from cosy to the Ro Suite with lake views and all rooms have been renovated.
All-day dining will be available in Lacu at the Ro, including breakfast until 5pm. The menus will focus on local produce and comfort food.
APM Design and architect Mason Gillibrand reconfigured the internal space and main entrance while respecting and showcasing the original features of the building. The design has taken inspiration from the lake and surrounding countryside.
The hotel’s conference and meeting rooms have also been given an overhaul and the six new spaces can cater for events from six to 200.
The refurbishment has been undertaken by Bangkok-based investment group Lake Merritt Hospitality, which purchased the hotel in April 2019 out of administration, after a £1.7m renovation project led to cashflow issues for then-owner Squire Hotels. The hotel will be managed by UK management company 7 Hospitality Management.
Rooms will start from £295.
