The former managing director of the Bvlgari hotel takes over from Knut Wylde, who announced his departure from Maybourne group this summer.
Kostas Sfaltos has been named general manager of the Berkeley and the Emory hotels in London’s Belgravia.
He takes over from Knut Wylde, who left the role in August this year after a decade at Maybourne hotel group, which also owns Claridge’s and Connaught in London’s Mayfair, as well as the Maybourne Riviera and the Maybourne Beverly Hills.
Sfaltos has over 30 years’ experience in the industry, and was most recently managing director of the Bvlgari hotel in London’s Knightsbridge.
His past roles have included general manager at One Aldwych hotel in London’s Covent Garden and hotel manager during the launch of Hotel Café Royal in London’s Piccadilly.
As part of his new role, Sfaltos will also oversee Surrenne, Maybourne’s longevity members’ club and wellness facility situated below the Emory, which launched earlier this year as London’s first all-suite hotel.
Sfaltos said: “I am excited to join Maybourne as they continue to grow and very much look forward to being part of energetic and creative hotel teams who consistently lead the way in the art of extraordinary hospitality.”
Roland Fasel, chief operating officer at Maybourne, said: “Kostas brings many years of experience as well as a dynamic approach to hotel management.
"His experience will help drive the continued success and growth of the Berkeley and the Emory and position them at the forefront of the ultra-luxury landscape in London.”
