JD Wetherspoon has seen total revenue top £2b as like-for-like sales have risen by 7.6%.

The pub chain reported profit before tax of £73.9m in the results for the 52 weeks to 28 July 2024.

The group now includes 800 pubs, down from 879 in 2019, although chairman Tim Martin reaffirmed his belief that the business has the potential to grow to 1000 sites.

Latest openings include the Captain Flinders near Euston Station, the Lion and the Unicorn in Waterloo Station, the Star Light at Heathrow Airport, and the Grand Assembly in Marlow.

Addressing recent trading, chairman Tim Martin said that in the last nine weeks, to 29 September 2024, like-for-like sales increased by 4.9%.

"The company currently anticipates a reasonable outcome for the current financial year, subject to our future sales performance," he said.
