Jackson Boxer is to launch a bistro at Experimental Group’s Henrietta hotel in Covent Garden this spring.
The restaurant, named Henri, will be inspired by Parisian bistros, and serve Boxer’s take on classic French dishes and signature cocktails until late in the evening.
The chef previously collaborated with Paris-based Experimental Group on the launch of the Cowley Manor Experimental hotel in the Cotswolds last summer.
Boxer, who is also behind London restaurants Orasay and Brunswick house, trained chefs and developed menus for Cowley Manor – which is recommended in the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2024.
Boxer said: “I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved in reimagining the luxurious country house hotel [Cowley Manor] for a contemporary, cosmopolitan crowd, now I’m excited to do the same for a late-night theatreland restaurant in Covent Garden.”
Henri will be based on the ground floor of the Henrietta hotel, a 19th century townhouse which was once home to publishing houses and booksellers.
Experimental Group opened the hotel in 2016 and also runs London Experimental Cocktail Club in Chinatown, wine bar La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels Seven Dials and live music venue and bar Stereo in Covent Garden.
Cowley Manor was its first UK project outside of London and the group secured a €350m (£292.5m) cash injection from private real estate funds managed by Brookfields in 2022 to fuel further expansion.
Xavier Padovani, partner and director at Experimental Group, said: “Jackson’s cooking is a poetic blend of British cuisine with subtle nods to French classics, and he never ceases to amaze us.
“Working with him at Cowley Manor has been an incredible treat and bringing him along for the ride at Henrietta couldn’t come at a better time."
Experimental Group was founded in 2007 and operates hotels, restaurants and bars across France, Spain and in New York.
