Hong Kong-based Page brand to open in London

Hong Kong-based Chanco Investment Group is to open its first hotel in London with the launch of the 138-bedroom Page8 hotel on St Martin's Lane.

Operated by the company's hospitality arm, Butterfly Hospitality Group (BHG), the London property will become the second hotel in the Page boutique brand, which is said will offer "affordable luxury rates" averaging £280 per night. Page148 opened with 197 bedrooms in Hong Kong in January.

BHG also manage the Butterfly brand of five hotels, which operate at a lower price point than Page. All the hotels are located in Hong Kong.

Situated next to St Martins in the Fields church and opposite the National Gallery with views of Trafalgar Square, the five-floor Page8 is being developed at a cost of £23.1m within a former office building which was home to the Post Office and Redwood Publishing. Chanco, which is headed by Henry Chan, bought the property in 2014 for £65m.

The hotel will feature a rooftop coffee bar and restaurant, the details which are yet to be revealed. The design is being undertaken by Willmott Dixon Interiors, which has worked on projects for Travelodge and Village Hotels and is also currently working on NH Hotel Group's first Nhow hotel for the UK in Shoreditch, London.

General manager of Page8 is Matthew Moffatt, who was previously group operations director of ZHotels for four years. Earlier in his career he worked for Hand Picked Hotels, Think Apartments and Thistle Hotels.
