Gordon Ramsay unveils name for Maze replacement

Gordon Ramsay is to open a new Asian eating house called Lucky Cat in the space currently occupied by Maze in London's Grosvenor Square.

Maze is due to close on 2 February this year after 14 years in business, having lost its Michelin star in 2015.

Lucky Cat, inspired by the drinking dens of 1930s Tokyo and the Far East, will feature a late-night lounge and its name takes its inspiration from Asian culture where the ‘lucky' cat is a talisman believe to bring good fortune.

Ben Orpwood will head up the new venture, having served as executive chef of Maze since joining Gordon Ramsay Restaurants in January 2018.

Orpwood was previously executive chef of Caprice Holdings' Asian restaurant and bar, Sexy Fish, and also spent six years at Japanese concept Zuma.

Lucky Cat will feature interiors from design studio AfroditiKrassa, also responsible for the design of restaurants including Dishoom.
