Stephen Boxall, the former managing director of the Ritz London hotel, has been appointed to the same role at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts.
He has joined the regional group of 40 hotels more than two and half years after his sudden departure from the five-red-AA-star, 137-bedroom hotel, in February 2015. It is not known what Boxall, who had been at the Ritz hotel for nearly 20 years, has being doing in the interim.
Meanwhile, Gurval Durand has been appointed general manager of the five-AA-star, 151-bedroom Macdonald Randolph hotel in Oxford, following the sudden death last month of Michael Grange, who had run the hotel for 12 years.
For the past 15 months, Durand has worked on consultancy projects for the Idle Rocks in St Mawes, Cornwall; Gidleigh Park, Chagford, Devon; and the Barons Eden Group, after stepping down as general manager at Whatley Manor in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, in May 2016.
