Fergus Stewart is returning to the Lancaster Landmark Hotel Company after 20 years to take the roles of deputy managing director of the group and general manager of the Landmark London.
Stewart rejoins the company, which has a portfolio including the Royal Lancaster London, K West Hotel & Spa and Basil Street Apartments, having been hotel manager of the five-red-AA-starred, 300-bedroom Landmark hotel in Marylebone between 1999 and 2001. His appointment follows the retirement of Andrew Batchelor after 32 years with the group.
Stewart previously held positions including senior vice president and acting chief operating officer at Jumeirah Hotels and Resorts based in Dubai and vice president of IHG Hotels and Resorts’ luxury hotel division in Europe.
He said: “In my more recent career, I have been working in large corporate positions in what I would term is the business of hotels. My new role at the Lancaster Landmark Hotel Company will allow me to return to the hotel business and my passion for running hotels on a day-to-day basis.
“The Landmark London is a magnificent hotel in a magnificent city and I am delighted to be given the opportunity to lead the business and its incredible team as we deliver innovation and excellence whilst safeguarding the hotel’s values that make the Landmark London a great place for guests to stay and for individuals to work.”
Brian Hladnik, managing director of the Lancaster Landmark Hotel Company, said: “I am very pleased to welcome back Fergus Stewart as both deputy managing director of the Lancaster Landmark Hotel Company and as general manager of the Landmark London. He will help continue to lead us towards a successful future for the business.”
Tosaporn Sihanatkathakul, executive director of the Lancaster Landmark Hotel Company, added: “It is with great pleasure that I announce that Fergus Stewart will be joining the Lancaster Landmark Hotel Company. I remember the time Fergus was hotel manager from 1999 to 2001 at the Landmark London and the positive impression he made to team members. Since then, he has gone on to become a very successful hotelier in major cities and countries, including Thailand. This track record is a true testament to his sterling career, and I have no doubt he will be able to use his experience and knowledge to help steer the company into continued prosperity.”
