A failed asylum seeker has been arrested at Antony Worrall Thompson's Kew Grill restaurant in south west London.
A 33-year-old Algerian man was arrested by UK Border Agency (UKBA) officers at the Kew Green eatery on Tuesday, according to the Richmond Twickenham Times.
The UKBA said it is thought he presented a counterfeit French passport to get the job.
Worrall Thompson's business has been warned it faces a fine if it can't prove the correct checks were carried out prior to employment.
A second man was also arrested at the Pizza and Kebab House in nearby Twickenham on the same day. It is alleged that the 30-year-old Pakistani's visa had expired.
Both men have been given immigration bail while the UKBA works to get travel documents to remove them.
