ESS, the defence, energy and government services arm of Compass Group UK & Ireland, has secured a five-year catering contract with Hertfordshire Constabulary for an undisclosed sum.
It will see ESS provide breakfast and lunch for officers and staff at the force’s headquarters in Welwyn Garden City and oversee a micro-market that offers grab and go food 24/7.
The catering company will move into temporary facilities for two years during the contract.
ESS was selected following a six-month interim contract with the Constabulary. The mobilisation of the long-term partnership was executed in two weeks.
It is the latest police contract win for ESS, which also works with the City of London Police, Thames Valley Police, Kent Police, and the Metropolitan Police Training Centre. The Metropolitan Police contract was awarded in October.
Ronnie Kelman, managing director for ESS energy, government and infrastructure, said: “The Constabulary is undergoing an ambitious build programme during the period and we’re looking forward to supporting during this time. As well as a varied food offer through our restaurant and micro-market, customers will benefit from our wellness programme which incorporates menus and educational resources to support healthier choices.”
The contract will be delivered by ESS Government Services, which supports secure environments, local and central government with clients including the Welsh Government, the Ministry of Defence, Department of Work & Pensions, and Department of Health.
