Dixon hotel to open with Clive Watson restaurant

The Dixon hotel in London's Tower Bridge is set to open in November with a restaurant by Clive Watson.

Watson, co-founder of Blixen in Spitalfields and Village London Restaurants (behind Riding House Café in Fitzrovia) and a non-executive director of Lorne in Victoria, will open Provisioners at the hotel.

The restaurant will have a European all-day menu of "uncomplicated and comforting food" with an adjoining café, which will have "an Italian vibe", with signature coffee blends roasted in-house, cakes and toasted sandwiches by day, before turning into a wine, aperitivo and charcuterie bar in the evening.

Designed by Twenty2Degrees, also behind the hotel interior, Provisioners will reference SE1 and European café culture with a nod to the Bauhaus era.

Watson said: "Provisioners will be a place where you have everything you need to help you relax, unwind and refuel, whatever your mood. We'd like to be a bustling hotel and neighbourhood restaurant offering intuitive and natural hospitality tailored to each guest's needs."

Real estate investment company Dominvs Group is developing the 193-bedroom boutique hotel, having acquired it in 2014. The property was originally designed as a magistrates' court and police station in 1905 by John Dixon Butler. It will open under Marriott International's Autograph Collection.
