Design-led pub and hotel the Buxton to open in Brick Lane Victorian site

The Buxton, a 15-bedroom pub and hotel will open at the bottom of Brick Lane, east London, this spring.

Developed by the operators of nearby Commercial Street's pub with rooms the Culpeper, the site is housed in a former Victorian pub on the corner of Brick Lane and Osborn Street.

Named for local social reformer Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton, the site's design will combine classical features, restoring the building's original features, and modern elements.

The pub will include a polished Rosso Levanto marble counter that is balanced against inlaid Brass details and aged Sapele wood, a sustainable version of Mahogany. An open kitchen, which will be equipped to cater for 30 covers, will also be incorporated in the design. The hotel meanwhile will be connected by "a hot pink corridor lined with a beautifully handmade 1950's patterned carpet".

Unique artworks will also line the building, much of it sourced from nearby London Fields.
