Dandelyan at the Mondrian hotel to be replaced by new concept

Dandelyan, the botany-inspired London cocktail bar by Ryan Chetiyawardana, is closing its doors after four years.

Chetiyawardana - AKA Mr Lyan - announced the decision to close the acclaimed venue on Instagram, four years to the day after Dandelyan opened, with plans afoot to open a new concept in its space at the Mondrian hotel.

"It feels fitting on our fourth birthday to kill off our now-eldest venue," he said. "There's so much I think we can do, and so much we want to challenge, discuss and create in this industry that, like with White Lyan, it makes sense to burn it down, start afresh, and rise again as something brighter, shinier and more fitting of where we're (all) now at."

Chetiyawardana launched White Lyan in Hoxton in 2013 and closed it in April 2017 to make way for 40-cover basement bar Super Lyan and a 30-cover restaurant upstairs called Cub, which was a joint venture with Silo's Doug McMaster.

He continued: "I really think we're just hitting our stride, and now it's time to pull out the real weird stuff. Here's to keeping it weird."

Chetiyawardana added that he didn't want to be asked what's next for him and the team but with the announcement labelled "1/3″, further posts on the subject are expected.
