Dalata Hotel Group plans to open a new 300-bedroom Clayton hotel in Glasgow city centre.
It will be a four-star property located on Clyde Street, with a bar, restaurant and conference facilities.
The hotel is in partnership with Artisan St Enoch Quarter, a subsidiary of Artisan Real Estate Investors, which is itself a shareholding partnership between the Sanlam Group, Argosy and Salt Properties.
It will sit within the city's restored, Grade A-listed Custom House and form part of a wider mixed-use development, and is still subject to planning permission from Glasgow City Council.
Dalata will operate the hotel under a 35-year operating lease, subject to five-year rent reviews linked to the Retail Price Index. The hotel is expected to open in late 2020.
Glasgow is one of 20 cities the group is targeting as part of its expansion plans. Dermot Crowley, deputy chief executive, business development and finance, said: "Glasgow is not only Scotland's largest city, it is also a city with an exciting mix of large corporate employers, extensive conference and event facilities and leisure attractions."
Clive Wilding, property director of Artisan Real Estate Investors, added: "The new hotel forms the key part of a wider mixed-use development, for which the planning process will start shortly, with a view to being on-site at the end of 2018 and open for business in 2020."
As well as its hotels in Ireland, Dalata operates seven hotels in the UK in London, Cardiff, Leeds, Birmingham, Belfast and Manchester Airport. Dalata announced it is targeting Edinburgh, Brighton, Bristol, Liverpool, Oxford, Reading, York, Cambridge, Southampton, Milton Keynes, Bournemouth, Exeter and Portsmouth for further expansion.
