Corbin & King chief to deliver HR Forum keynote

Corbin & King chief operating officer Zuleika Fennell is to open the HR Forum next week with an inspirational presentation on her journey to the top.

The former director of human resources will explain how she progressed to the summit of one of the country's most revered restaurant groups.

At the HR forum, which takes place on Monday 20 April at the Park Plaza Victoria, London, Fennell will provide an insight into how she maintains and executes the culture at the business and delivers the vision of Chris Corbin and Jeremy King.

The Caterer deputy editor James Stagg said: "Zuleika's story is sure to inspire. Having worked her way through the ranks at Corbin & King, she now heads one of the most exciting restaurant groups in the country.

"With a strong track record in learning and development, pastoral care and helping others grow, Zuleika is ideally placed to share her philosophy for building a successful business through people practices."

Joining Fennell on the agenda will be Esther Smith from TLT Solicitors, who will explore forthcoming employment law changes, as well as offering a view on some of the possible implications of the election.

She said: "All employers need to keep abreast of current employment law to avoid the risk of expensive claims and negative PR. In the leisure sector in particular, businesses rely on their brand to attract and retain talent, and keeping the right side of the law means that you avoid cost and bad press.

"With new laws on shared parental leave, and the uncertainty of a general election looming, now is the right time to get more informed as an employer."

The conference will also feature leading operators from The Caterer Best Places to Work in Hospitality Top 30, who will discuss the key trends hitting people engagement in 2015.

The HR Forum, which is sponsored by HIT Training, will also celebrate the announcement of the 2015 Top 30 Best Places to Work in Hospitality, held in partnership with Purple Cubed.
