Cambridge Varsity hotel commences £2m guestroom refurbishment

The Varsity hotel in Cambridge has begun a £2m refurbishment of its 44 guest rooms.

The scheme is anticipated to be completed by January 2019 and will see each room individually designed with herringbone wood flooring, bespoke handmade rugs from artisan weavers and wallpaper from Designers Guild and Colefax and Fowler.

Each bedroom will have a sandstone bathroom with underfloor heating, a monsoon shower or Victorian free-standing bath-tub and Elemis products, and some will have mini TVs. Each room will also have a smart television and in-room tablets to allow guests to order room service, make concierge requests and access a full-service directory.

Roberto Pintus, general manager, said: "The new design reflects the heart of the hotel and represents our constant desire to ensure that all guests have the best experience possible."

University of Cambridge graduate Will Davies, opened the Varsity hotel in 2010, and also owns the adjoining Glassworks Health Club.
