The owners of Italian-inspired Celentano’s will be taking over the Cathedral House hotel next month.
Celentano’s in Glasgow, which holds a Bib Gourmand, will become a restaurant with rooms at the end of September following its takeover of the Cathedral House hotel.
The restaurant was opened by husband and wife team Dean and Anna Parker in 2021 within the eight-bedroom bed and breakfast, which was run by Laura and Shane McKenzie for the past seven years.
Cathedral House dates back to 1896 and was formerly a half-way house for female prisoners from Duke Street prison.
It now features a mix of superking, double and twin bedrooms packed with Laura Thomas toiletries, power showers and roll-top bathtubs.
Guests will receive breakfast trays with a selection of sourdough bread and butter, seasonal compote, sweet baked treats, and fruit and granola, with rates starting at £175 per room per night.
Dean was formerly the ‘right-hand man’ for chef and restaurateur Robin Gill, having headed up restaurants including the Dairy, Sorella and Darby’s in London.
During The Caterer’s visit to the restaurant in October 2022, he described the restaurant as “the first Italian that’s not traditionally Italian”, with its inclusion of Asian ingredients such as kimchi, fermented seaweeds and kombu.
The Parkers said: “This is such an exciting time for the Celentano’s journey and a fantastic opportunity to help showcase what a great foodie city Glasgow is.
“Over the years we’ve welcomed Cathedral House B&B guests for a meal or a cocktail in the courtyard and so when the prospect came round, we felt it was a natural progression with the chance to streamline our offering. We’re looking forward to the challenges and opportunities this next step presents.”
