New Forest Ice Cream has introduced the Jazzie ice lolly, featuring creamy vanilla-flavoured ice-cream dipped in white chocolate and covered with rainbow-coloured sprinkles. The ice-cream version of the retro Jazzles sweets is individually wrapped and comes in packs of 25 lollies. The Jazzie is part of the New Forest Ice Cream Impulse range, which includes Supreme, Supreme Cone, Squeeze Up and Twisted Trio.

Pie brand Pieminister has created Handy Pies, a grabbable range of deep-filled pies, suitable for takeaway. The pies come in a vegetarian cheese and onion flavour, with strong vintage Cheddar, potatoes, chives and English mustard; chicken tikka, made with free-range British chicken marinated in tikka spices in a creamy sauce; steak and peppercorn, made with British steak, brandy and rainbow peppercorns; and vegan banger and bean, made with This Isn’t Pork sausages with haricot and cannellini beans in a smoky tomato sauce. The 170g pies are easily heated in an oven, accelerated cooker or air fryer.

The sweet and sour pot has the tangy twang of the takeaway classic but with four times less sugar, half the salt and a fraction of the calories. The latest flavour joins salt and pepper chicken, chicken curry, katsu curry, pasta bolognese and chicken and chorizo paella in the Pots of Gold line-up.

Central Foods has added five doughnuts to its KaterBake bakery range. The frozen food distributor is launching sugared, mini sugared, chocolate iced and mini chocolate iced doughnuts, as well as a gluten-free midi sugared doughnut. The cake-style ring doughnuts are suitable for vegetarians and need thawing before serving.

First-harvest salmon roe, smoked salmon roe and trout roe from Yarra Valley Caviar in Australia is now available in the UK. The company uses a bespoke breed of Atlantic salmon, bred to be humanely hand-harvested once a year at the base of the Rubicon River in the Yarra Valley region of rural Victoria. The first-harvest salmon roe is cultivated to be unprocessed, using only 3% added salt, while the smoked salmon pearls are cured in Olsson’s 72-hour triple cold smoked salt using a local Mountain Ash hardwood. Each variety comes in 100g tins.

The first pea shoots biofortified with vitamin B12 are coming to market thanks to a collaboration between vertical farm Ro-Gro, plant and microbiology research institute the John Innes Centre, food and health bioscience facility the Quadram Institute and indoor farming tech firm LettUs Grow. The pea shoots have been grown in Ro-Gro’s vertical farm in Kent and are biofortified using ultrasonic aeroponic technology developed by LettUs Grow. Plants grown using this method can stay fresher for longer, with Ro-Gro guaranteeing a shelf life of 14 days. A small serving of the pea shoots contains an adult’s recommended daily allowance of vitamin B12.
