Ben Danielsen to depart the Vineyard Group

Ben Danielsen is leaving his role as group operations director at the Vineyard Group after five years.

He is understood to be taking up the role of general manager at the five red-AA-star, 45-bedroom Royal Crescent hotel in Bath.

Danielsen worked as house manager at the group's five red-AA-star, 49-bedroom Vineyard at Stockcross in Berkshire and was promoted to general manager of the 111-bedroom, four silver-AA-star Donnington Valley hotel, also in Berkshire, before leaving in 2008.

He returned to the group in 2014 after general manager roles at the Vale Resort in Cardiff; Bowood hotel in Calne, Wilshire; and the Crowne Plaza Resort Hotel Colchester; as well as with foodservice firm BaxterStorey in Norway and a hotel director role at the Hunderfossen hotel in Oslo.

Andrew McKenzie, managing director of the Vineyard Group, said: "Ben has worked with us in total for over 10 years and has done a fantastic job in that time. Donnington Valley was awarded AA Hotel of the Year 2008 under Ben's leadership and his steady, professional manner has helped him oversee some great operational improvements as well as significant developments to our portfolio.

"Since taking over day to day control of Donnington Valley hotel last year he has built a great team and will be missed by all of us within the group. We wish him every success in the next chapter of his career."

The Vineyard Group (which also includes Deanwood Park golf club in Berkshire and the 49-bedroom, four-AA-star Barns hotel in Bedfordshire) is now looking for a new director and general manager to head up Donnington Valley.

The Royal Crescent has been approached for comment.
