Amadeus nets £3m in sports catering contracts

Amadeus’ events team has secured several high-profile catering contracts across golf, tennis and cycling in recent months, worth more than £3m total revenue to the business.

The team has scored several holes in one, adding five golf events to its growing portfolio. These include the retention of contracts with the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open for three years, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and AIG Women’s British Open for a further two years each and for the 2019 Solheim Cup.

Amadeus has catered for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship since 1997; this year will also be the team’s 20th year catering at the Scottish Open and 14th year at the British Open.

The group also won a three-year contract with the Betfred British Masters, which commenced in Southport in May this year.

When it comes to tennis, Amadeus has called ‘game, set, match’ on three events with the Lawn Tennis Association with the retention of the Nature Valley International Eastbourne and Nature Valley Open Nottingham for a further three years each. In addition, the team secured a contract to deliver the catering services at the Nature Valley Classic Birmingham until 2021.

Amadeus is also gearing up for a cycling contract with Yorkshire 2019 UCI Road World Championships later this month.

The team is led by events director, Sam Bates, who has worked with at Amadeus for more than 20 years.

She said: “Catering at large scale, high volume events is what we do best as a team – evidenced by the strong relationships we have built up with our clients and the number of contracts we have retained for many years.

“We share a long history with the Lawn Tennis Association, European Tour and Women’s British Open having worked with them for many years and understand the audience profiles for each event inside out. We always look to push the boundaries of creativity to keep things interesting, providing bespoke menus and working with local suppliers to keep our offer authentic.

“Our expertise in large scale event catering is now widely recognised across the sports industry, leading us to secure a number of exciting new contracts this year.”

In addition to its portfolio of major sporting events, Amadeus’ Events team caters at more than 150 corporate and private events a year and 19 horseracing fixtures at Stratford Racecourse.
