Allerton Manor’s £15m hotel and golfing development given the green light

A £15m development scheme to transform Allerton Manor into a boutique hotel and spa has been given the go ahead.

Liverpool City Council’s planning committee voted unanimously to approve plans to develop Allerton Manor in south Liverpool into the region’s ‘premier public golf destination’.

The plans were submitted by Allerton’s operator, Green Circle Leisure, and it is believed that the development will create up to 150 new permanent jobs and safeguard the ‘Green Wedge’ status of the Allerton Manor site for future generations.

Green Circle’s property director Craig Coley said he was “delighted” with the outcome and added: “I’d like to thank the professional and supportive approach we have had from the planners, and the constructive dialogue with local ward councillors.

"By working together, we have been able to bring forward an exciting plan that will create a fantastic amenity for the city, while preserving Allerton Manor’s unique heritage and landscape.”

The vision, led by world-renowned golf course architects International Design Group (IDG) includes restoring and converting the Grade II-listed manor house to create a 31-bedroom boutique hotel, spa and function space, along with a new family-friendly 18-hole adventure golf course.

Allerton Manor’s existing 18- and nine-hole courses will also be reconfigured and improved, together with a new purpose-built golf pavilion club house, state-of-the-art teaching facilities including an indoor practice putting area, and golf simulators.

Green Circle plans to begin the first phase of works in spring 2021, with completion of the project, including the restoration of Allerton Manor, expected before 2024.
