The InterContinental London Park Lane hotel on Hyde Park has confirmed the permanent closure of restaurant Alex Webb on Park Lane.
Alex Webb on Park Lane launched last December after the 2020 MasterChef: The Professionals winner held two residencies at the Mayfair hotel in May and October 2022.
At the time of the launch, he told The Caterer his 55-cover restaurant was taking the space of a former Mexican diner in the hotel, which had 120 covers.
Best-selling dishes included the lobster toast with lobster mousse, lobster bisque, black sesame, and brioche.
A spokesperson for the hotel stated the collaboration with Webb came to an end “by mutual agreement”, adding: “We are thankful for the incredible experience with Alex on the terrace and on the restaurant. Alex remains a great friend of the hotel, we wish him all the best in his future ventures and will support him anyway we can.”
Webb trained as an apprentice at the Savoy in London’s Westminster and staged for chefs including Hélène Darroze and Heston Blumenthal before becoming head chef at Square 1 in Great Dunmow, Essex.
