They join Skof in Manchester and Camille in London, which are also listed in the guide.
Alex Claridge’s Albatross Death Cult in Birmingham and Roe in London are among eight new restaurants that have been added to the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland’s selection this month.
Claridge opened the tasting menu-only restaurant in a Grade II-listed warehouse in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter in June (pictured above), which serves “brutalist style” dishes such as chalkstream trout belly and roe, prawn head and peas, and hamachi sesame.
Inspectors said “the whole experience, centred around an attractive counter, will be a memorable one”.
Roe, the highly anticipated second opening from the team behind Fallow in London’s St James’s, received praise for its “extensive and highly inviting” menu, while Tom Barnes’ first solo outpost, Skof in Manchester, was recognised for its “rich, comforting dishes with a fresh, clean approach”.
Over half of this month’s additions were based in London, including Camille in Borough Market, from the group behind Ducksoup in London’s Soho, and former celebrity haunt Julie’s in Holland Park, which relaunched under new ownership following its closure in December 2022.
The guide updates its recommendations each month based on its inspectors’ travels, with any additions highlighted by a ‘New’ symbol.
It does not confirm if the restaurants will receive a star, Bib Gourmand or any other awards until the next formal Michelin Guide ceremony, which will likely take place early next year.
