Adam Handling has been announced as executive chef of the Belmond Cadogan hotel ahead of its reopening this winter.
The 54-bedroom Chelsea hotel is reopening under Belmond's management following a four-year, £28m renovation, and will be the second Belmond hotel in the UK alongside Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons in Great Milton, Oxfordshire.
As executive chef, Handling will oversee all food and beverage operations at the hotel, including the main restaurant featuring an open kitchen, a bar and terrace serving drinks and lighter bites curated by Adam and his team, as well as the Tea Lounge. Handling's art and music taste will inform part of the restaurant design and tasting experience.
The Queen Anne-style property, which was built in 1887, has been reconfigured to provide larger suites in response to demand from guests, with interiors by GA Design International.
General manager Klaus Kabelitz said: âAdam is an exciting and innovative talent who has made his mark on the London dining scene. At Belmond, we are delighted to support up-and-coming talent and Adamâs culinary skill, combined with his incredible passion for curating the ultimate fine-dining experience makes him the perfect partner for our first London hotel restaurant.â
Hugh Seaborn, chief executive of Cadogan Estate, which owns the hotel, added: âWe are very excited about Adam joining the neighbourhood. As long-term stewards of Chelsea, our focus is on creating vibrancy through a careful balance of top international flagships, best-in-their-field independent artisans and an inspiring mix of places to eat and drink. Adam brings a fresh new dining experience to Sloane Street and Iâm certain will be very popular with both locals and guests alike.â
Handling opened his first restaurant, the Frog E1, in Londonâs Shoreditch in June 2016, and his flagship restaurant, Frog by Adam Handling, in Covent Garden in September 2017. He will continue to operate the Adam Handling restaurant group alongside the hotel with his team.
