Bespoke to operate £30m Abersoch hotel

The site of the former Whitehouse hotel in Abersoch, Gwynedd, is to undergo a £30m development to transform it into a luxury hotel and apartments.

Work will begin in March 2022 to construct 42 bedrooms and suites, a restaurant, bar with a sea view terrace, function facilities, gym and spa with a pool and thermal suite. 18 apartments will take up the top two floors of the hotel, with views across Cardigan Bay and the Welsh hills.

The property, set to be named the Abersoch hotel, will be operated by Bespoke Hotels, which also runs Hotel Gotham and Hotel Brooklyn in Manchester and the Chester Grosvenor.

The Whitehouse hotel closed in 2004 and was demolished in 2016 after North Wales developer Broomco secured planning permission. Providence Gate Group Holdings (PGGH), who took on the scheme this year, said a completion date was set for 2023.

Charlie Openshaw, development director at PGGH, said demand for holiday accommodation in Abersoch was at an “all-time high”.

He added: “This substantial new build development is based on the footprint of the old Whitehouse hotel and has the advantage of meeting some of that demand without displacing or converting residential properties in the town.”
