Nespresso Professional achieves B Corp certification

Nespresso Professional has announced that it has B Corp certification, meeting high standards of social and environmental responsibility, accountability and transparency.

Contributing elements to its B Corp status included its approach to coffee sourcing through the Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality Program, developed in partnership with the Rainforest Alliance, its alliance with Fairtrade, and recycling schemes for its aluminium capsules.

Guillaume Le Cunff, chief executive of Nespresso, said: “B Corp Certification reflects a 30-year Nespresso commitment to sustainability, transparency and responsible business. We are immensely proud to be joining a community of like minds who share our belief that profit and purpose go hand-in-hand. This certification brings added value for our customers and affirms to Nespresso fans that their favourite coffee brand is doing business the right way.”

“Most importantly, B Corp certification inspires us to do more. It strengthens our commitment to our vision that every cup of Nespresso coffee has a positive impact on the world.”

In 2021, Nespresso co-founded the UK’s first industry-wide coffee capsule recycling scheme, Podback, which currently operates a nationwide Collect+ drop-off service, as well as kerbside collection in seven local authority areas for consumers, with future ambitions to cater to B2B office and hospitality customers.

Nespresso Professional UK & ROI is also supporting global efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by the end of 2022. Nespresso’s offices in Gatwick and York are powered by 100% renewable energy, as well as all boutiques where the energy supply is managed by Nespresso.

Beth Langley, out of home director at Nespresso UK & ROI, said: “We’re incredibly proud of this certification, which demonstrates our firm belief in making coffee a force for good to professional customers, and reflects Nespresso’s ongoing commitment to meet high standards of sustainability and transparency.

"Joining the B Corp Movement reaffirms to clients, as well as their customers and employees, that Nespresso is a responsible business, working to balance profit with purpose. We’re very excited about the positive change we can achieve in the future as an active member of the B Corp community.”

The company will add the B Corp logo to Nespresso products and communications.
