Leeds-based ice-cream brand will continue to trade independently under its established name.
Bidcorp UK, the parent company of Bidfood, has acquired the trade and assets of Northern Bloc Ice Cream for an undisclosed amount.
The independently-run ice cream manufacturer supplies hospitality and retail customers including Booths, the National Trust and Wagamama.
Northern Bloc will join Bidcorp UK’s network of manufacturing businesses, which includes Simply Food Solutions and Yarde Farm, and will continue to operate under its well-established name.
The Leeds-based business, which opened its doors in 2014, offers a product range including vegan and bespoke ice-creams in various flavour profiles. It also has a low-sugar ice-cream range for children.
Jim Gouldie, supply chain and technical services director at Bidfood UK, confirmed to The Caterer that there are no plans for any changes in Northern Bloc’s personnel, structure or location, with Dirk Mischendahl remaining as managing director.
He said: “We believe that this business, alongside our existing Yarde Farm ice-cream business – which will also run independently, will be a highly successful acquisition.
“Its passion, ethical ethos and reputation for providing great-tasting products at an excellent service completely resonates with our core mission and values. We look forward to supporting the team and expanding their brand presence through multiple routes to market. We’re excited to see the raft of opportunities and synergies we believe Northern Bloc will bring with it.”
