Most hospitality venues will serve a sweet course, and some are solely dedicated to desserts, so keeping ahead of the pack is vital.

Whether sites require individual ingredients to whip up a sweet storm in their own kitchen, a topping twist to elevate a dish, or need a little help with ready-made cakes, operators looking to offer their customers a sugar rush can find the most innovative additions in this roundup of new dessert products.

Bringing Baileys to the sauce selection

The Flava People has extended its partnership with drinks firm Diageo to create a non-alcoholic Baileys Caramel Sauce. The sauce can be used across different menu items such as desserts, hot drinks or ice-cream to create simple upgrades and added value. Available in a squeezy 200ml bottle, 500ml bottle, 1 litre bottle and in bespoke formats upon request, Baileys Caramel Sauce is initially launching in bulk format for foodservice, ready for Christmas 2024 menus. Volume related discounts can apply.

Chocolate alternative buttons for baking

JM Posner has recently introduced chocolate alternative buttons, specifically designed with catering businesses in mind. The alternative chocolate (made with cocoa mass but without cocoa butter and dry cocoa solids) is said to be more than 33% cheaper than traditional chocolate but has the same characteristics and behaviour, while incorporating greater stability at high temperatures. The buttons are available in white, milk, and dark chocolate flavours, and JM Posner also offers white and milk chocolate-flavour curls.

Piglets Pantry’s muffin trio

Piglets Pantry has introduced a range of three muffins: raspberry crumble, banoffee and lemon and blueberry. The raspberry crumble mixes raspberries into the brand’s traditional muffin recipe and is topped with a classic crumble. The second flavour is a twist on banoffee, using fresh banana and soft home-made caramel with toffee pieces wrapped up in the toffee-based muffin. Finally, the lemon and blueberry variety is a light muffin with zingy lemon and lemon zest, bursting with blueberries. The muffins are available in cases of 24, with a minimum order of £250, depending on location.

Sauces to elevate ice-cream, pancakes and waffles

Hawkshead Relish has launched a range of sweet dessert sauces designed to accompany sweet treats including waffles, pancakes and ice-cream. Each dessert sauce is handmade using quality ingredients, without artificial preservatives, gluten or nuts. The raspberry ripple ice-cream sauce blends sweet to sour, creating a nostalgic raspberry ripple sundae flavour, while the sticky toffee waffle variety is a softer pouring sauce to drizzle over desserts. Meanwhile the lemon drizzle sauce provides a traditional flavour to accompany pancakes or cake.
