The independent schools and workplace restaurant specialist was recognised for sustainable growth pledges built on core values of retaining craft skills in cooking, nurturing people to shine and protecting nature
Wilson Vale is the latest contract caterer to achieve B Corp certification in recognition of its commitment to sustainable growth.
The independent schools and workplace restaurant business, which was acquired by Aramark in 2021, joins operators including Houston & Hawkes and Lettice Events in achieving recognition for its social and environmental efforts.
Wilson Vale was able to prove its credentials through measurable commitments in line with B Corp pillars of governance, workers, community, environment and customers.
It currently works with over 300 local suppliers across the UK and boasts impressive internal promotion rates, with 93% of the operational support team and 83% of its central leadership team promoted internally. Meanwhile, 50% of the board and 54% of the workforce are women.
At its Leicestershire headquarters, Wilson Vale has implemented a 100-kilowatt solar array, a Daikin heat-pump climate control system, and six electric car charging points. It has also upgraded its fleet to fully electric cars.
ESG director Graeme Watson said: “This certification is a key milestone in the history of our business. It’s a powerful verification of our commitment to crafting positive change.”
Managing director Melissa Wallbank added: “For our clients, working with a B Corp caterer means partnering with a company that puts sustainability, inclusivity and accountability at the heart of everything we do – delivering not just high-quality food but a service that prioritises people and the planet that can support their own environmental and social credentials.”
