The growing Signet Collection hospitality group has acquired the Deans Place hotel in East Sussex for an undisclosed sum.
The Grade II-listed property, which dates back to the 14th century, is due to open in December 2024.
It will join Signet Collection’s existing portfolio of hotels, which include the Barnsdale in Rutland (launched in May 2023), the Retreat at Elcot Park near Newbury (launched in June 2022), and the Mitre in Hampton Court, London (launched in September 2020).
Deans Place Hotel, which is located in the village of Alfriston, will reopen with 35 bedrooms, a restaurant serving local produce, public lounges, a large function room, a heated outdoor swimming pool and expansive grounds.
Hector Ross, managing partner of the Signet Collection, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Deans Place hotel into our portfolio. This historic property aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing our guests with a sense of fun and laid-back affordable luxury.”
Peter Brunt, director in the Hotels Agency team at Colliers, who managed the sale, added: "The sale of Deans Place Hotel is a testament to the property's unique appeal and potential. The property is perfectly placed to access the stunning South Downs National Park and the Sussex coast between Brighton and Eastbourne. We are pleased to have played a role in this successful transaction."
The Signet Collection was created by Ross, the former chief operating officer of property and leisure operator Longshot.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed Mark Jarvis has taken on the role of culinary director across the boutique hotel group.
