The resort posted a profit for the first time in 2022 after years of losses under the Trump family.
A Scottish hotel and resort owned by Donald Trump saw a rise in profits last year after golfers flocked to play its championship courses.
Trump Turnberry, an 800-acre resort in Ayrshire, was bought by the former US president in 2014 and relaunched in 2016 following a £200m refurbishment.
It posted a profit for the first time in 2022 after years of losses following its acquisition by the Trump family.
Golf Recreation Scotland, the parent company that covers SLC Turnberry, which operates the resort, reported a pre-tax profit of £3.8m in 2023, up from £186,261 in 2022.
Total revenue exceeded £21m for the second consecutive year, driven by a 35% rise in sales of people paying to play its two championship golf courses. This also drove incremental revenue from membership, spa and recreation activity at the resort.
Director Eric Trump wrote in its accounts: “Payroll and expenses were well controlled in line with business levels, while overall profitability was impacted by rising regional utility costs, supplier expense and minimum wage increases.
He added: “Continued investment from the owners in the resort, and in particular, the championship golf courses will ensure our continued growth into 2025 onwards in the luxury market.”
Room rates start from around £126 per night for Trump Turnberry’s self-catering rooms and from £951 for its luxury signature suites.
From June to mid-July next year, golfers looking to play the resort’s Ailsa course at peak season will be charged a fee of £1,000 before 1pm and around £550 at other times. According to Bunkered magazine, it will make the course the most expensive round of golf in the UK.
