The chef said he had been searching for the "right opportunity" to return to London.
Chef Francesco Mazzei is to open an Italian restaurant at the Corinthia London hotel in summer 2025.
The venue will take over the space currently occupied by the Northall restaurant, a site with direct access from the street with large windows in a corner of the hotel.
Further details are set to be confirmed over the coming months.
The Northall, which is overseen by the hotel’s executive chef André Garrett, will remain open until late winter 2024 when it will close for a full refurbishment.
The opening marks a return to London for Calabrian-born Mazzei, who has worked at the Dorchester and ran three restaurants with D&D London before leaving in 2023 after seven years at the company.
He has since been in residency at the Corinthia Palace hotel in Malta, the first and founding property of the group.
Mazzei said: “Since my last ventures in London, I had been searching for the right opportunity, so when the prospect to open here at Corinthia London presented itself, I was delighted.
“It is the perfect location for me to showcase the most beautiful, classic Italian cooking that I am so excited to share. I am also thrilled to be in great company, working alongside the hotel’s other partners, Tom Kerridge and Salvatore Calabrese.”
Thomas Kochs, general manager at the Corinthia London, said: “I am so happy to be able to create a restaurant with Francesco and the team here at the hotel, which will be for Londoners and hotel guests alike. Francesco’s personality and his spectacular Italian food will be irresistible for sure.”
The Corinthia’s other bars and restaurants include Tom Kerridge’s Kerridge’s Bar & Grill, drinks expert Salvatore Calabrese’ Velvet bar, and an afternoon tea overseen by executive pastry chef Yago Doamo.
Garrett oversees the wider food and beverage operations, including the Garden alfresco restaurant, breakfast, room service, and myriad business and special events spaces.
