The latest hospitality venues to open their doors across the UK in June 2024
As we begin to see signs of summer, the UK hospitality scene is buzzing with new openings, ranging from Roberta Hall McCarron’s Ardfern in Edinburgh, where you can tuck into a full Scottish breakfast complete with thick-cut bacon, homemade haggis and tattie scones, to Jackson Boxer and Experimental Group’s Parisian-bistro-meets-British-pub Henri in London. Meanwhile, British rapper and singer-songwriter Stormzy has partnered with the Cream Group to bring fresh memories of adolescent house parties with Soho’s latest night-time hang-out.
From the best new restaurants to the buzziest new hotels, there are plenty of new openings happening this month.

Ed McIlroy of Four Legs, the team behind the Plimsoll in London’s Finsbury Park, has opened Iberian fish bar and restaurant Tollington’s in the site of the former neighbourhood chippy. It offers a selection of daily-changing sharing plates with a focus on cured, fresh and fried fish.

Brothers Joe and Nick Fowler, who are behind fruit and vegetable wholesale business Smith and Brock, have joined forces with former River Café chef Shuli Wimer to open a restaurant in London’s Deptford. Sylva’s seasonal menu takes its inspiration from home-cooked comfort food.

Inception Group has launched Cahoots Ticket Hall Boozer in London’s Carnaby, above its pre-existing Underground and Signal Station bar. The new site is akin to a 1940s British pub and has been furnished with tartan carpets, a jukebox and other period features.

Chef Roberta Hall McCarron has opened her third venture, Ardfern café, bar and bottle shop, in Edinburgh’s Leith. The all-day bistro, which has been named after her childhood memories of a village in Argyll and Bute, offers brunch, bar snacks and dinners that can be paired to a curated wine list of 100 bottles.

British rapper and singer-songwriter Stormzy has partnered with the Cream Group, the team behind Cirque Le Soir and Dear Darling, to open House Party in London’s Soho. The seven-storey bar takes its inspiration from teenage house parties, complete with red cups, sofas, pizzas, Ping Pong, karaoke and video games.

Ireland-based Dalata Hotel Group has opened its second Maldron hotel in Manchester. The 188-bedroom property features the brand’s signature Grain & Grill restaurant, Red Bean Roastery coffee and two meeting rooms for business travellers. The launch has led to the creation of 32 jobs in the area.

Tom Blackshaw and Aidan Bryan’s contemporary Japanese restaurant Sushi Revolution has opened its second site in London’s Shoreditch, three years after it launched its first site in Brixton. The 34-cover restaurant also features shou sugi ban style burned wooden walls, kintsugi porcelain tables and noren curtains. Outdoor seating will be available in the summer months.

Following on from the success of Cowley Manor Experimental in the Cotswolds, chef Jackson Boxer and the Experimental Group are collaborating once again to open Parisian-inspired restaurant Henri at Henrietta Experimental hotel in London’s Covent Garden. Dorothée Meilichzon has designed the interiors of Henri, which combine the dark wooden panels of traditional British pubs with the Art Nouveau elements of typical French brasseries.

Txuleta founder Nemanja Borjanović and William Sheard have partnered with chef Richard Foster, the former executive head chef at Chiltern Farmhouse, to open Ibai, a Basque steak restaurant in the City of London. The menu will offer classic steakhouse fare paired with dishes from the French Basque region, such as king crab rice, boudin blanc black pudding and Aldabia corn-fed chicken.

Korean-American chef Akira Back is making his UK debut with the launch of Akira Back restaurant and ABar Lounge cocktail bar in London’s Mayfair. The 148-cover Japanese restaurant will serve all-day dishes such as his signature ’AB Tuna Pizza’ and the ’Perfect Storm’ sushi roll, while the bar will offer a selection of contemporary and classic drinks.
