The group said it was raising funds for refurbishments of its other hotels
Macdonald Hotels and Resorts has put its Plas Talgarth Resort in Wales on the market for £4.75m in a bid to raise funds for the rest of its portfolio.
The holiday park on the edge of Snowdonia National Park includes 77 apartments with 184 bedrooms and a leisure centre with a gym, swimming pool, sauna and spa.
It has been owned by Macdonald Hotels and Resorts, which runs 35 UK hotels and four in Spain, for nearly 30 years.
A Macdonald Hotels and Resorts spokesperson said: “Plas Talgarth Resort has been part of the Macdonald Hotels & Resorts portfolio since 1997. We have taken the decision to seek to sell the resort as part of a group-wide strategy to raise liquidity for the refurbishment and development of properties within our core portfolio.
"We have been transparent regarding our intention to sell the resort with our timeshare owners through recent AGMs and have reassured owners there will be no impact [on] them given the club units are held in trust.”
Plas Talgarth includes a Village Hall event space which is used for weddings and corporate events.
Knight Frank, which is marketing the property, said there was “significant development potential comprising 15 lodges, residential apartments plus refurbishment to the existing bedrooms and reconfiguration of the leisure facilities”.
